Alternative wedding inspiration: My top 5 unique, quirky and opulent wedding venues for 2014

Last year I made a post featuring my recommendations for quirky wedding venues in London. Since then I’ve come across even more wicked wedding venues that I really wanted to share with you married-to-be’s.

1. Crazy Bear– various locations

The Crazy Bear group have a restaurant in Covent Garden and a hotel in Beaconsfield. They’re renowned for their decadent, luxurious decor, if you have the cash this is definitely one of the most incredible quirky and unique wedding venues.

2. The Roost– Dalston, London

This venue was shown to me by an enquiring couple whose date I was guttingly already booked for. It looks brilliant though, lovely quirky decor set in East London, ideal for the trendy set!

3. House of Wolf– Angel

I’d like to thank Martin from Will Shoot For Rum for introducing me to this place on a band shoot last year. Gastro-pubish weddings are a very popular format for Londoners getting married, with most pubs being able to hold approximately 100 people. The House of Wolf is a real gem over three floors, the upside is that the setting rocks, the downside is that the dining area is not very large, so it might be a case of a smaller daytime- larger night time system.

4. The Decorium– Wood Green, London

It’s quite rare that you’ll find a decent quirky wedding venue in North London that caters nicely for large Indian Asian weddings. Many of the larger hotels that can hold hundreds of guests tend to be quite simple in layout. With its interesting curved roof and Gatsby-esque chandeliers, The Decorium is my Spring pick for grander Indian Asian weddings.

5. Pale & Interesting Cottage– Winchelsea

I must credit my friend Hannah for showing me this unique beach cottage on the South coast. It’s her ideal wedding venue for her own wedding, and I agree it’s so lush! It strikes the right balance between quirky and tasteful for those who want a cool beach wedding! I was told that they stopped doing weddings for a few years and now they’re back again due to popular demand so book quickly!

6. Aynhoe Park– Banbury, Oxford

Here’s a free extra one because this place is frankly fantastically eccentric!! Dinner reception next to some giraffes? A unicorn on a piano, a jazzy polar bear?! Why not?!

If you’re getting married at any of these locations I will offer you a bucket list discount on your wedding photography!
