Lara and Tom had an intimate wedding that brought together 37 of their closest friends and family, with Lara’s side flying in from Lebanon. We started the morning getting hair and make up ready at the Clayton Crown Hotel with the lovely Laura Anne, with whom I worked with on Nat and Drew’s wedding at Brixton East and Victoria Reynolds. They mixed things up a bit and wanted me to spend half of the morning shooting Tom meeting the guests at the infamous Holly Bush pub in Hampstead. It’s a short stroll down the road from the Catholic church where they were having their ceremony- St Mary’s Catholic Church which is tucked behind a beautiful row of mews and cobbled streets.
After the ceremony we headed over to Clissold House, where I am a recommended supplier. It’s a lovely pastel coloured house in the public Clissold Park. They had a meaty buffet feast accompanied by Lara’s dad’s Arak. Arak is a strong grape-based alcoholic drink (kind of like an absinth) that requires a meticulous milling process. Her dad makes it himself with the help of others in their local town, they take turns to watch over it as the process takes many consecutive days. It is a clear liquid that turns milky when you combine it with ice!
The dinner was followed by a series of speeches by both fathers, Tom and the best man. Weddings at Clissold House finish at 10pm, so Lara and Tom walked with their friends to The Rose & Crown pub in Stoke Newington to spend the rest of their wedding having a chilled out beer. Thank you to Lara and Tom for having me as their wedding photographer- shooting intimate weddings with small guest numbers is quite refreshing as it allows me to really focus on the photography, they also had the dream client mentality of “we like your work and trust you to do your own thing” which definitely helps any photographer get their creative cap on! I’m pretty pleased with the work I produced for these guys as I feel I knocked the framing I love so much out of the (Clissold) park! *boom tsh drums*
