Eyal and Debbie’s bright and beautiful Jewish wedding at the Honourable Artillery Company in London

Debbie and Eyal are a wonderful young Jewish couple who I had the fortune to meet after they saw Hannah and Raf‘s quirky wedding on the Jewish wedding blog Smashing The Glass. It was not surprising that they were having a big wedding party, as I could tell they were very loved by many friends, family and their community. I started the day at Debbie’s family home where she got ready with her bridesMATES and family! Debbie wore a beautiful pearl and diamante headband with an epic white dress and silvery touched sandals. Debbie arrived at the Honourable Artillery Company, joining her girls for a Tisch. Now, as I understand it, a Tisch is normally a toast held by the groom’s side, but Debbie being a thoroughly modern thinker decided that she wanted to have a Tisch. The girls organised songs, food and drink to see Debbie into her chuppah. After the Tisch, they held the Bedeken, which was similar to a first look between Debbie and Eyal. This is also the time when they both signed the marriage contract according to Jewish tradition. Back in the ceremony room, their several hundred guests were waiting. Their chuppah was beautifully meaningful, a print of Eyal’s mother’s painting of an united and peaceful world. This was supported by four friends holding the poles which were decked with white flowers. The ceremony itself was beautiful, I photographed Eyal’s sister’s wedding so I already knew they were a close and emotional family and that the ceremony would be moving.

After that we went into the ceremony room which had been turned over for the evening. Debbie and Eyal had a lovebirds theme, based off the drawing Debbie did for the guestbook and order of services. The dinner tables and cake toppers were matching this theme with lovebirds on top of the bright, colourful floral centrepieces and and cake decorated with orange and purple flowers. In true Jewish tradition, Debbie and Eyal kicked off the reception with dancing and hora. Jewish dancing is amongst my favourite things to photograph because the fun and high energy totally suits my style of work! After the dancing everyone took a breather with dinner (including a sushi starter), speeches and seven blessings. They then all partied the night away until the early morning! Thank you so much to Debbie and Eyal for letting me be a part of your thrilling day, I wish you both all the happiness together! I originally blogged Debbie and Eyal’s wedding with plenty of details of all the many parts of their day, but since attending a workshop where I learnt how to better showcase my hero shots, I’ve really stripped it down to the shots I really love/make me laugh everytime, so some of the described events aren’t shown below!
