Interestingly, I find myself shooting more and more Asian weddings, but my niche seems to be young Asian couples who specifically want the opposite of traditional wedding photography! I feel like this is perfect for me- none of the hours and hours of shots on the mandap, yet all the beautiful colours of the dresses and the fun of the games and rituals! Harshini and Nikhil got married at Aynhoe Park in Oxfordshire which is MY ULTIMATE BUCKET LIST VENUE! ARGH! ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!! It's not for the faint hearted, it's owned by a music mogul who has been collected taxidermy and generally obscure things all his life and Aynhoe Park is the summation of years of this. There's a Matthew Williamson room, a Mecchano room, a circus corridor... everywhere you turn it's a photographer's dream! Shini wore a beautiful white lace sari before changing into a dark green sari in the evening. Nikhil wore a suit all day but changed into an awesome flamingo shirt in the evening. They had a beautiful traditional buddhist ceremony before food and drinks. There was a break in the middle of the day for everyone to relax before the henna party and dance performances in the evening. During this break I did do a lot more couple shots than I usually do, just to really milk the unique environment. I feel I don't need to say too much as it's such a visual stunner.
