Ahh Camp Katur, a wedding venue with a special place in my heart because I shot a. their first ever wedding b. my first full cowboy themed wedding there! The lovely Jan Shillito (the UK’s best independent celebrant!) recommended me to Julie and Suzanne, a fantastic couple who wanted a woodland ceremony and a reception in Camp Katur’s twinkly barn. They’re both dentists so they had little nods to their profession like a disco ball made out of dental mirrors and a day schedule board saying “holy molar!”. I travelled up to Yorkshire the day before and joined in/photographed their family pre wedding pizza party! It’s so important to me to tell the full story of the wedding day so if that includes pizza ovens in the woods and hot tubbing then I’m there!
The morning after everyone got ready in the glamping and hobbit huts before a small group of close family headed to the local registry office for the civil ceremony. Then we all jaunted back car-e-okeing to Camp Katur to get ready for the woodland ceremony. They decorated the ceremony area with gorgeous flowers in colourful painted tins and had mini shot bottles of whisky set out for the guests. The ceremony was truly unique, with both vows to each other and to Joe, their weimaramer as the ring bearer and a toast to Julie’s father who sadly passed away.
After the moving and personal ceremony they had ploughman’s sandwiches in the woods before heading across the field to the barn for the speeches and their main dinner. After the emotional speeches they kicked off the party and the guests enjoyed a chip van for their evening nibbles to make sure they weren’t hungry before they staggered back to their bespoke tents.
