Sam and Heather are a super lovely couple who I got on so well with that when we had our first meeting we ended up hanging out for 4 hours! Heather wore a beautiful fitted dress with floral detail and a mauve sash, whilst the bridesmaids wore nude lilac mauve floor length dresses each with a different shape. Sam wore a blue suit with black lapels, a black bow tie and a spotted pocket square. Each of the groomsmen wore rainbow coloured bow ties and socks!
Marks Hall is a lovely venue with a pretty outdoor garden for a ceremony space and an old rustic coach house for the wedding breakfast. Being such a sweet and fun couple, as soon as Heather got to the front of the ceremony she gave Sam a kiss, and then said “I’m not sure if we were allowed to do that!” and everyone cracked up! The ceremony was really emotional, with readings from one of the bridesmaids and Heather’s brother, which brought a lot of tears out all round. Heather also had a proper get-in celebration to the ring exchange, which is probably one of my new favourite ring shots!!
Sam and Heather decorated the coach house with rainbow hot air balloon paper pom poms, origami cranes, lots of multi coloured flowers in glass jars and bottles, giant pegs with kraft labels for the name and table holders. They had a wedding cake made out of Lego bricks with a Lego married couple on top next to a cake table with lots and lots of lovely cakes *nom nom nom*
Before the wedding breakfast we dashed out to get some quirky, relaxed couple photos in the beautiful gardens of Marks Hall
After the wedding breakfast speeches were given by Heather’s dad, Sam and the maids of honour.
After the speeches, we did one of the two creative shots that Sam, Heather and I had planned out for a while- a group smoke bomb shot!! At this point I have to say thank you so much to Marks Hall for being ace sports and letting us do this!
After that we went straight into a lovely first dance to Macklemore’s Same Love and partay mode.
As the sun came down and the light basically got epic we ran out to take some beautifully intimate and romantic photos. I am predominantly a documentary style wedding photographer so most of my couples don’t want a lot of posed shots, they prefer to keep it very natural or have photos covering the reality of their wedding day, but if I am asked by a couple to produce more editorial wedding photos I am always happy to oblige and I LOVE the results of Sam and Heather’s! Ironically these guys were saying to me before the wedding that they are terrible at posing and getting nice photos, but clearly that’s not true!
Following that, the party continued in full swing for the rest of the evening, I’ve never seem such enthusiastic dancing guests so top marks there!
Leading up to the wedding, Heather had told me she loved sparklers and really wanted me to recreate some of the sparkler shots that were circulating on Pinterest. I made it fit with my own personal style of dramatic night time shots and BOOM I feel like we did an ace Pinterest-worthy job of it!
