Duncan and Sophie are a lovely couple who hail from Hertfordshire and Manchester (hence the stag and bee details) but have been working and living in London for a while. I started at their flat which was beautifully decorated with cool maps and furniture, including a giant flamingo that stares at you on the toilet. Sophie wore an elegant halter neck silky wedding dress with a gold sequin loose T style top over it. She wore a beautiful yellow and green floral crown and a sparkly bee pin to represent Manchester. Her bridesmaid wore a lovely blue dress with birds on and a bird in her hair and everyone wore yellow/colourful ties. They asked their guests to all come in lovely bright clothing for the occasion! Their bouquets were wrapped in gorgeous African print fabric- travel was very clearly important to Duncan and Soph as Duncan’s wedding gifts were a personalised map commemorating their wedding day with their flat bang in the centre of the map. His other wedding gift was their song (by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) on vinyl
After their sweet church service, we all bopped onto a green London double decker bus to razz over to the Mile End Ecology Pavilion in East London.
Sophie loved this local laundrette that was very vintage so we went and did a quick couple shot there!
The Mile End Ecology Pavilion is a great wedding venue because it starts as a blank canvas for you to really decorate up and you can bring in your own caterers. It’s my second time shooting there, and I have enjoyed both weddings there immensely!
Instead of a guestbook they had a brick wallpaper where people could write messages on, and the card box was a dog with a blue wooden spoon sign. The table plan was DIY’d out of pastel doilies and the place holders were cool quirky fabrics folded into origami hearts.
Once everyone had settled in and munched on some canapes, everyone headed out for a bride vs. groom cricket match
Once everyone was back in the Mile End Ecology Pavilion, dinner of wonderfully yummy leg of lamb was served by carefully selected guests who donned colourful protective catering clothing!
The funny speeches were followed by a lovely first dance and the cutting of a yellow lego wedding cake.
