Mark and Rachel found me through a feature on Amie and Matt ‘s wedding on So You’re Getting Married and at our meeting described their plans for their English Garden wedding at Rachel ‘s family home. The thing I love most about home aka backyard weddings is that the whole setting becomes instantly meaningful and personal to the couple and their family. I went to visit their home beforehand and met the lovely family doggies, the chickens and even got to try my first red egg! It’s basically extra tasty. A lot of this wedding was steeped in family and tradition- Rachel ‘s headpiece was worn by her grandmother when she married and Mark and Rachel got married in the same church as many of her family members. Even her wedding Bentley was a family friend who had driven many other family members!
They asked me if I would like to join them at 7am for a morning swim in their natural swimming lake. I said yes of course, I love any excuse to get in water as an ex swimmer and water sports enthusiast. Armed with a waterproof camera bag I took some shots of the lake antics followed by wedding breakfast which consisted of black pudding, eggs, bacon and sausages, which in my eyes is extra brownie points as the Edmunds women do not faff about.
Once everyone was ready we made our way over the road to the church but as there were photography restrictions I haven’t shared any ceremony shots today. After post ceremony drinks and canapés they had speeches outdoors as the lovely sun started to set, before having dinner and toasts in the marquee.
After dinner Mark and Rachel surprised their friends and family with a magnificent firework display in the back garden followed by dancing in front of Rachel’s wedding gift to Mark- “Big Love” in light up letters!
