A Scottish outdoor wedding at Fyvie Castle

Winter wedding in Fyvie Castle

I was very very honoured to be flown out to Aberdeen in Scotland to shoot the Fyvie Castle wedding of industry fellows Ali and Kelly who are the wedding videographers behind Flat 4d Media. For a start, I’d never shot in Scotland before and to top it off it was a wonderfully personal affair where they got married right outside where the groom grew up, and we had their couple shots where he used to play as a kid! They both got ready on different floors in the main castle, with Kelly wearing a stunning pink tulle dress and fantastically quirky green fluffy and floral sequin shoes from ASOS, after her hair and make up was done by Francine Rae and Rhea MacDonald. Ali and his groomsmen wore traditional tartan and to reflect their love of wrestling, customised their AngelK buttonholes with mini wrestling belts.

Outdoor wedding ceremony

Their ceremony was held outdoors in what can only be described as the most beautiful car park! It was the flattest most open area that was appropriate for the chair number, and it pretty much sits outside the groom’s childhood home on the Fyvie estate. Robin Wiseman was their celebrant and he conducted a beautiful moving ceremony in a gypsophila circle, finishing off with the traditional drinking of whisky from a quaich.

After the ceremony they had a car boot bar for their drinks reception, sharing out the alcohol they had stashed in their dad’s yellow wedding car!

After the quick outdoors drinks reception all the guests walked back towards Fyvie castle where they got ready to have their Fish and Chip van wedding dinner supplied by The Codfather

Fyvie Castle wedding dinner

After the Fish and Chips van wedding dinner they gave their speeches before cutting their cat cake topper cake

To walk into their first dance Ali put on a sparkly gold wrestler’s cape for a proper wrestling entrance. All their party action was fueled by their wedding band Franco.

They made sure everyone was properly fed from a round of Pizzas supplied by Lilys Dough Pizzas.
