Wedding at The Bedford in Balham

The Bedford In Balham wedding venue in South London

The Bedford in Balham, South London is a fantastic weddings and events venue that is famous for hosting comedy nights. It is a gorgeous urban unique quirky wedding venue in London that is fully licensed for wedding ceremonies. When I photographed J and R’s wedding there, they had their drinks and dinner reception, with a ceremony and party at their own church. If you’d like to plan a London civil ceremony wedding with The Bedford as your reception venue, then the nearest London Town Hall is Wandsworth.

What makes The Bedford such a great choice for your relaxed London pub wedding? The decor inside is incredible, you basically don’t need to decorate it up at all if you didn’t want to. The cocktail bar is covered in unique and funky art prints. As a documentary wedding photographer who loves to work with art and shapes in the environment for my compositions, The Bedford is an amazing London wedding venue.

However, as I previously mentioned, the couple did not just have a Bedford in Balham wedding. They started their day with a church ceremony at their own St Thomas’ church in Streatham Hill. They got their unique and sustainable hand crafted wedding flowers from Hidden Botanics. They had help setting up and planning their wedding with Inspired Events. But they also had help from their friends and family with running the self stocked bar and serving the cakes. St Thomas’ church is a beautiful and spacious church with high classic arches. Before the church ceremony the bride had a private prayer with her bridesmaids and mum.

After the ceremony the couple held a brief cake and drinks period in the church hall. We then followed this up with taking some group and couple photos in the stunning church community garden. The guests all then made their way to The Bedford in Balham wedding reception

After the London church wedding ceremony, everyone made their way to the gorgeous unique pub London wedding venue that is The Balham. The guests were already in the cocktail lounge, so the couple made their way up the iconic, dramatic staircase to join them

The drinks reception is in a stunning location that is ideal for my bold, colourful documentary wedding photography style. The ballroom is a light wood panelled space that was decorated with a cycling theme as the couple are both keen cyclists. If you are planning a cycling themed wedding then I hope this wedding provides you with inspiration. For the table plan the couple used bike wheels with the guests names pegged onto each spoke. They named the tables after various international cycling races. They used cycling water bottles to act as flower centrepieces holders, and gears for the table decor.

During the dinner they had a series of emotional and funny speeches.

After The Bedford wedding the couple went back to the church hall with all their guests for some evening buffet nibbles from A Modo Mio.
