Almiral De La Font wedding in Spain

Planning a destination wedding

I have been a destination wedding photographer since my first year of shooting. My very first destination wedding was in Spain! So it was lovely to return once more to the popular wedding venue Admiral De La Font. British couples often choose a destination wedding as it can work out surprisingly cheaper sometimes! Especially if you’re looking for a big group weekender holiday vibe. I specialise in multi day weekend long weddings both abroad and in the UK. You can check out some of my previous epic weddings here.

Admiral De La font wedding

This Spanish manor house is near Barcelona so very easy for guests to travel into. There’s space for some guests to stay on site. Usually family and the wedding party. Some of the other guests may need to stay locally but there’s plenty of accommodation options. This is such a popular destination wedding venue that the area caters for weddings really well. I started the morning shooting the general set up and relaxed getting ready. The bride wore a modern elegant dress with zebra block heels. She did her own make up. Some of their friends enjoyed the swimming pool in the morning

Destination wedding ceremony

The wedding ceremony takes place on the top of a cliff, it’s worth noting that it’s a small but steep walk up the cliff. Something to be aware of if you have elderly loved ones. The view is beautiful, set in a rustic raw mountainside. Before the ceremony the guests had some welcome drinks served by friends.

The family delivered emotional speeches, it was a really intimate and personal ceremony.

Summer drinks reception outdoors

The beauty of a destination wedding abroad is definitely the warm balmy Summer drinks reception! You can have an outdoor wedding in the UK, but weather isn’t guaranteed. I have photographed one destination wedding that got rained on, but it is super rare! And even then, the rain stopped for that couple’s drinks reception. At an Admiral De La Font wedding you have drinks by the swimming pool.

Couple photos in Spain

The couple decided they wanted to enjoy their wedding staying present, so we kept the couple photos to a minimum and on site. They preferred a casual style of wedding photos.

Outdoor wedding dinner on the terrace

The set up for the wedding dinner at Admiral De La Font is simply stunning. They put long trestle tables right between the stone Manor House and the pool. There’s almost no need to decorate this space as the natural beauty is already in place!

Wedding speeches at dusk

Weddings in Spain start late in the afternoon because of the heat, so it was dusk by the time we started the speeches.

Dancefloor wedding party

After the dinner and speeches the party starts! The DJ who was a friend set up the dance floor just inside the room next to the courtyard. As you can imagine the party ended in the pool!
