Custom punk wedding party jackets
This awesome couple found me through a fellow photographer referral. I was mega keen to shoot their wedding as soon as they told me they both worked in theatre (him on set design and her on costume design) and when they introduced me to their medical skeleton roommate Clive. They were doing the relaxed DIY wedding of my dreams and truly celebrating their individuality with their wedding guests. For starters, their wedding party outfits were jackets that they let each person custom design. How amazing to have such a creative group of best friends! They went all out, with patches, tassels, fully working LED light shows… just truly incredible! They also truly did it their way, with the groom receiving a pocket watch instead of a ring because he knew he never wore rings. Myself and my partner were the same, we got custom matching neck and bracelet chains as neither of us wear rings due to our work! I really love seeing people take the same leap and planning a unique wedding that suits them.

Ceremony at Faversham Guildhall
I started the day at the Faversham Guildhall for their registrar led wedding ceremony. The couple had made little lego skeleton badges for all the guests as a Clive themed momento. The bride wore a STUNNING purple sequin black wedding dress that she had made with a friend Rose Savage Bridal Atelier. Rose makes the most gorgeous alternative wedding dresses in Bristol. The groom’s custom shirt and waistcoat was made by Sophie Jones, another costume designer friend of the bride and groom! I gasped when the bride came in, she was stunning in her dress and golden headdress.

After the ceremony they all walked over to the wedding reception venue Papa Bianco. This made for cool photos through Faversham town centre.

Alternative wedding couple photos
When we arrived at Papa Bianco myself and the couple took the chance to take a few couple photos at the nearby independent shops. This gave the guests a chance to filter inside to Papa Bianco.

Punk goth DIY wedding details
These creative guys thought of everything! They had a whole kids table full of mini games and crafts for anyone of any age to enjoy, they had various classic tombola games like guess the name of the cat (it’s a theatre prop!). And Guess the number of skeletons in the venue. The bee hive theme wedding cake and cupcakes were made by one of the mums, her baking was divine! They decorated the whole place with purple themed bunting, and supplied vintage Nintendo video games for people to enjoy. They had a vintage phootbooth set up so people could pose with Clive the skeleton.
The weather was beautiful this day so the guests enjoyed their drinks and nibbles outside Papa Bianco wedding by the beautiful quay.

The couple surprised their guests with the amazing German Jukebox band during the drinks reception. They are a brassband who play covers of popular songs and they were so great in their performance! It got all the wedding guests up and dancing, an early start to the party!

Relaxed DIY wedding reception
As they were keen to have a relaxed fun wedding day, this couple basically put on fun stuff for friends to do and engage in across the day. The traditional funfair games had prize winners at the end, the vintage photobooth was available all day. The German Jukebox then came back out to play another set.
