Quirky airbnb for bridal prep in near Islington Town Hall
I started photographing this Pedro’s wine bar wedding in London at the coolest hidden gem near Islington Town Hall. I’ve photographed many Islington Town Hall weddings and this was definitely a bridal prep location that I’d recommend! It had gorgeous natural light and lots of quirky decor which appealed to my documentary street style of wedding photography. We were joined by Storme Hair and Make up. The bride wore a stunning vintage style dress with a pearl cape and bow block heels. As a result of the stunning location and outfit I took tooooo many bridal prep photos!

Islington Town Hall Council Chamber ceremony
We all took a very short ride to the Islington Town Hall, which is one of the most popular London registry offices. I have photographed many Islington Town hall wedding ceremonies and it’s where I had my own wedding ceremony! The couple had arranged a super cute personalised wedding day newspaper as the order of service.

Confetti on the steps of Islington Town Hall
The couple exited the Islington Town Hall to magenta and green confetti, which is a unique colour for wedding confetti! All the guests and the couple then boarded the London double decker bus hired from Routemaster Bus London. My documentary wedding photography style loves London weddings with bus journeys as there’s so much potential for fun interesting composed photos. The wedding double decker bus dropped everyone off at the wedding reception venue Pedro’s Wine Bar in Bermondsey.

Pedro’s Wine Bar wedding reception
Pedro’s Wine Bar is a fantastic choice for a relaxed London wedding. It is located in Bermondsey under one of the railway arches. It has two floors, with the top being a balcony of sorts, and the building has a brick and industrial feel. They have a built in bar and catering to make life super easy for you. They also have good outdoor space if guests want to spend some time outside and it faces a quiet enough road. This couple chose to entertain their guests with a sip and solve. I hadn’t actually heard of this before, and I think it will become an increasingly popular wedding trend for 2025. It’s a canvas board with a crossword or puzzle of sorts that guests can work on standing with their wine!

The upstairs balcony of Pedro’s Wine Bar wedding venue
The amazing planners Hannah Rose Weddings and Events made sure the upstairs dining space was perfect. This was my first time working with these wedding planners and I was really impressed at how professional they were. From the pre wedding contact they made with all suppliers, presenting and checking information beforehand. To showing up at bridal prep to check in on the bride and make sure everything that needed moving across to the reception venue was handled, they were on the ball!
The table plan for the guests was presented in topped up champagne flutes, with a drink tag that indicated both the name and table number of each guest.

Hiring a caricature artist for your wedding
The couple hired the fabulous Alan Simpson caricature artist to entertain their friends outside whilst the planners and venue staff turned the room around. The guests were such good sports and had such great reactions I needed to dedicate a little section just to them!

Bermondsey wedding couple photos
As well taking couple photos at Islington Town Hall, we took the time to walk around the streets of London for some urban wedding photos. I particularly love highlighting the gorgeous blue brick walls of the venue and the surrounding streets.

Wedding party at Pedro’s Wine Bar
Whilst all the guests were either outside or downstairs chilling out, the couple had arranged for loads of cool evening entertainment. The downstairs area was the party area and dance floor. The upstairs floor had a Photo Booth and beer pong.

They supplied sunglasses and glow sticks for everyone which helped create an epic first dance shot! I am an experienced teacher of flash photography for weddings, and it helps me to create the best wedding party dance floor photos.
