Christmas wedding at Goodwood House

O + M are two wonderful guests from a previous East Dulwich Tavern wedding that I shot. I’m always honoured when wedding guests see their friend’s full gallery and that is enough to make them book! This lovely couple planned their Christmassy December wedding at the GORGEOUS Goodwood House venue in West Sussex. We started the day at the Goodwood Hotel on site, followed by a vintage green bus that took the couple and their guests to their Goodwood House wedding.

Winter wedding ceremony

The wedding ceremonies at Goodwood House take place in a gorgeous long room with dramatic draped curtains, yellow walls and historic paintings. You then sign your registry book in a private alcove room just offshoot from where you stand for the ceremony.

Tour of the Goodwood House museum

After the ceremony everyone goes back to the stunning lobby (complete with Christmas tree!) to enjoy drinks, canapés and a tour of the House! At this stage you’re allowed to take the photo in for some photos, as with most of the museum weddings I’ve photographed you aren’t allowed to use flash so you have to get clever with your video light.

Elegant wedding dinner

After the drinks and tour part of the wedding, all the guests go to another room for the wedding dinner. It’s a large, long red walled room with a small balcony, and this couple chose to have round table layouts with candlesticks and florals. They delivered speeches between the courses from each groom and the best man before the venue staff opened the doors to a small side dance floor so guests could kick start the party!

Artistic wedding photography

After the wedding dinner and speeches, the couple cut their cake. When it got dark we all went outside for a big night time sparkler shot, perfect for the mood of this cosy winter wedding. They also set up a Photo Booth from Photobot for the guests to take hilarious photos of themselves throughout the night.

I hope you enjoyed this atmospheric winter Goodwood House wedding, if it’s too large a venue for your guest number this Sir John Soanes Museum wedding gives a similar artistic cosy vibe but for a smaller more intimate gathering.
