Candlelit Langtons House wedding ceremony in London

Holding a twilight wedding ceremony

A twilight wedding ceremony is the perfect idea for a winter wedding. The sun tends off set around 3-4pm, so you may as well embrace the dark. This also works if you want to have a simple registry office ceremony followed by a dinner reception elsewhere. Langtons House hosts the wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships for Havering Council in East London. It is situated on large grassland that has a pond, bridge and glasshouse feature. You have plenty of space for your group and couple photos. The parking directly outside Langtons House wedding venue is limited to the couple, any disabled guests and the registrar. It has space for about 4-5 cars. They encourage guests to park in the public pay and display car parks across the road next to the Theatre.

How dark is it during the ceremony?

The staff actually leave the lights on until the entrance moment. They turn the lights back on to sign the wedding registry, just to make sure there’s no mistakes! During the ceremony you’ll say your vows surrounded by lots of candle LED tea lights.

Taking photos after dark at Langtons House

After the ceremony you can take the group photos inside on the staircase if there are no ceremonies after yours. Alternatively you can choose to go and take the group photos outside. There are plenty of grounds to stroll around nearby the lake.

It’s important to note that if you’re booking a wedding photographer for your candlelit wedding, you have to make sure they are capable and prepared to shoot flash. Even during the candlelit ceremony, there is not enough available light for photographers to get a clear photo. If you hire someone who is not skilled with making flash photography look natural, the photos of your candlelit ceremony will not look like the examples here, you run the risk of the atmosphere of the candles being totally removed, or it looking similar to a guest taking an iPhone photo! This ceremony shown in this blog post was taken with flash.

I live only 10 minutes away from this gorgeous venue so I am available for ceremony only coverage for 1-2 hours, just contact me for a bespoke quote. If Langtons House isn’t quite your wedding ceremony venue, you can also try the Brentwood wedding registry office which I also live close by.
