Theatre wedding venue in South London
T + V got married at a venue close to where I lived for 6 years- Stanley Arts. Crazily enough I’d never been inside it until they booked me for their London wedding. It’s a fab events and arts venue in South London, with great light and gorgeous red theatre curtain for a dramatic backdrop. Stanley Arts is the ideal venue if you want a large hall type space, but also a very accessible venue via London public transport. It’s right on South Norwood high street on a pretty busy London road.

Jesus Peiro Miss Bush Bridal wedding dress with pearls
I started the day at their home getting ready. T wore a truly unique Jesus peiro wedding dress from the infamous British wedding boutique Miss Bush Bridal. Her dress had small pearls sewn into the puffed sleeves. The dress complemented her neat bob wave perfected by Hannah Monk and made for some stunning photos. The bridesmaids wore electric pink dresses.

Morris Minor wedding car to the church
The couple arrived at the church in a vintage Morris Minor car owned by their parents. It gave a lovely touch and added to the vintage vibe of the day. They held her wedding ceremony in their local church.

After the church ceremony all their guests took a short walk through South London to the wedding reception venue: Stanley Arts. The bride and groom drove off in the vintage Morris Minor! They used a balloon procession to help guide the guests.

Stanley Arts wedding photographer
The groom and his family, who are huge West Ham fans, had a giant West Ham mascot at the drinks reception. The main long trestle tables were decorated with stunning pink floristry by Floral Evolution. The chair hire was provided by The Little Wedding Warehouse.

They chose to bring over their absolute favourite curry house- the restaurant had never catered for a wedding before and they were really enthusiastic and vigilant. Poncho Khana travelled all the way from Birmingham to honour the couple. Their speeches took place in truly gorgeous directional light. As a documentary London wedding photographer I love making use of available light in interesting venues to shape my photography. After the emotional speeches they cut the cake from Bon Bon Parade.

For the party they had an energetic ceilidh in the main hall area with all the tables cleared.

If you need a large hall type venue in South London then a similar option is planning a Battersea Arts Centre wedding.
