J and R has the most shotastic wedding I’ve shot in ages, pun intended. They got married at the gorgeous tucked-above-Hackney Downs station Studio Jones. It’s a huge event space that is a converted warehouse (formerly known as Dalston Heights), with super unique symmetrical ceiling beams, original distressed wooden floorboards and lovely bright light. It really was a dream ceremony space for me to shoot in as someone whose signature wedding photography style involves a strong composition. They had a touching personal ceremony with emotional readings and the ceremony itself conducted by friends and family. Their dog was the ring bearer (super cute).
After the ceremony all the guests made their own way over to the reception venue that is Jones & Sons, and I walked over with J + R taking a few couple photos of the area they have lived in together and come to love. Once we got to the venue there were canapés and drinks and lots of chat. Their guestbook was hilariously a chart where guests had to sign their name where they best rated themselves as dog vs. cat person and day to nighttime drinking. Such an original idea that created lots of banter and makes for a lovely home display.
Special thanks to the suppliers Rowley Hesselballe for the modern wedding jumpsuit, and DJ Sandra Omari for the music. I do see lots of my couples hiring female DJs now which is ace.
