Couple portrait locations near Chelsea Old Town Hall
As a London wedding photographer who specialises in relaxed natural wedding photography, this couple hired me to capture their Refettorio Felix wedding day as it unfolded. They wanted a wedding photographer who could let them enjoy the day and be unobtrusive. This is to the extent that they chose to have their wedding couple portraits taken before the ceremony, to make sure the photos didn’t detract from the time spent with guests.
We went to the instafamous street with the pastel coloured doors to take some natural couple photos. The bride wore a gorgeous bohemian embroidered floral dress. The groom wore a sand coloured suit to match.

Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding ceremony
At the Chelsea Old Town Hall, they got married in the Small Hall. There are several room options at Old Chelsea town Hall depending on the number of guests you have. If you’d like to see a wedding ceremony in the Brydon Room check out this AMP Studios wedding.

Confetti outside the Chelsea Old Town Hall
After the ceremony in the Small Hall of the Chelsea Old Town Hall, the guests all waited outside for the couple to come out. The guests threw pink biodegradable paper confetti which floats slowly and creates the best confetti photos. After the confetti throw, everyone boarded the bus to the Refettorio Felix wedding venue that the reception was held at. The Refettorio Felix at St Cuthbert’s is a quirky hidden gem of a church hall in South West London.

Taking a London bus to the Refettorio Felix wedding venue
A lot of my couples who get married in London registry offices take privately hired double decker London red buses to their London wedding reception venues. It’s the cheapest way to get a whole wedding party transported across London. We got lucky this day and had the most amazing natural light filtering through the bus which made for wonderful documentary photos.

Giving to a good cause by hiring the Refettorio Felix wedding venue
Refettorio Felix is a unique London wedding venue choice because it is actually a drop in centre and community kitchen. Therefore when you hire this venue, the proceeds go to supporting a great community resource. It is predominantly one big church hall with a kitchen visible to cater from. It’s one large space so you do have to have the drinks reception amongst the tables, there’s not really any side rooms. There is a stage area that can be closed and opened off. This couple chose to use it for the speeches and for the band.
Hiring the Refettorio Felix wedding venue can hold either 150 people standing, or seat up to 80 guests for a meal. It’s one of the most affordable London wedding reception venue hire options starting from £1200. However it’s worth knowing that you cannot hire it during the weekday daytime hours.

Documentary wedding photographer London – The speeches
The couple chose to use the steps leading up to the stage for their speeches, delivered by the groom, bride’s father and best man. During wedding speeches I usually capture a mix of the speakers but also the guest reactions. A Refettorio Felix wedding has the most lovely natural light for the best candid wedding photography.

Indian Thali wedding food by Mesa Catering
For this London wedding, the couple chose to have Indian Thali for their wedding dinner. Mesa Catering is based in Bristol.

After the meal, the doors on the stage opened up to reveal the band The Alley Cats.
