York Minster wedding
I always feel very honoured when I’m asked to travel far and wide to shoot for couples- in this case I had shot a family member’s wedding further down south but Ben and Natasha loved the photos and wanted me at their York Minster wedding. This was extra special as Ben works in York Minster and therefore they had the very unique and exclusive opportunity to get married by the stunning huge stained glass window right at the end! As they live on the grounds I was able to photograph both the bride and groom prep and all family staying over.

Ben is a musician so their ceremony obviously had incredible epic singing performers and the string quartet whilst his dad performed the ceremony itself. Natasha entered with her mum wearing her mum’s wedding dress which was frankly stunning and bang on trend with its front drape capelet vibes.

After their wedding ceremony at York Minster they then held a cake cut of the cake made by their Auntie Christine, along with some speeches in the Chapter House next door. Their guestbook was also situated there, a super unique actual organ pipe! The guests had gold and silver permanent pens to sign it!

After the ceremony at drinks inside York Minster, everyone moved on to the wedding reception at the National Centre for Early Music, which Ben and Natasha had previously decorated in gorgeous flowers.

After dinner they had their first dance and party provided by the After Hours Quintet and at the end of the evening the guests took home the flowers. I have found last year a definite shift in people wanting to make their wedding as sustainable and waste free as possible, and a great way to do this is to make sure all the decor is reusable/can be enjoyed by the guests long after the wedding!

I love a relaxed church ceremony, whether it’s in somewhere grand like the York Minster or even the Farm Church in Mayfair Park
Kind words directly from the couple:
“Wow wow wow wow woweeeeee. We feel so honoured that Marianne was able to shoot our wedding. The photographs are very beautiful, and she captured some gorgeous and timeless moments, as well as real grit and humour of the day. Marianne is such fun to have around, so natural with the camera and with fantastic talent, and I don’t think anyone could have done a better job.
Thank you Marianne for your dedicated work on the day, and afterwards putting the photographs together. And thank you Marianne for making such an epic journey across the UK in your car, with one of our wedding guests, who was also stranded in London due to train problems. That truly is an extra mile!
We discovered Marianne when she shot our cousin’s wedding, and was blown away by the phenomenal colour and ability to catch the essence of their day. We count ourselves very lucky to have met her indeed.
Good luck with your marathon and future photographic adventures Marianne!”
