London pub wedding photography
I have photographed many weddings at The Londesborough pub in Stoke Newington. Therefore, I feel qualified to share some insight into how to plan your London wedding at this venue. I specialise in low key relaxed London Town Hall weddings, and most of these urban weddings end with a pub or restaurant reception venue. I’ve even written a planning guide for wedding pubs and restaurants close to Islington Town Hall. However, The Londesborough pub is a restaurant wedding venue closest to Stoke Newington Town Hall. It’s a very short walk, only 9 minutes or half a mile! So it’s the perfect wedding venue for a Stoke Newington Town Hall wedding or a Clissold House wedding. Choosing to plan a wedding at The Londesborough in Stoke Newington
There are many pubs and options for you if you are planning a wedding in Stoke Newington. I have outlined in this guide the nearest pubs and restaurant wedding venues close to each of the popular London Town Halls. If you are planning a Stoke Newington Town Hall wedding but want a more outdoorsy venue than a pub then the Woodberry Wetlands is a good shout! However if you want to have a relaxed indoor pub atmosphere, then The Londesborough is one of the best pub wedding venues in Stoke Newington. The new management have also painted it dark green.
The Londesborough venue hire rates and example food costs
As of 2025 the venue hire rate on a weekday is £600, and the Saturday is £750. The minimum spends on drinks and food are £5500 and £6500 respectively, with the three course meal option costing £57.50 per person and the buffet is £55 per person. The house wines start from £24 a bottle. They also have an evening buffet option of bacon butties, homemade sausage rolls and vegetarian tarts. They also easily cater to vegans with a varied and full three course vegan menu- way better than just vegetables on a plate which I’ve seen some venues serve as an afterthought.
The space at The Londesborough
The Londesborough has an L shaped bar with a central function space and an outdoor beer garden. The Londesborough pub in Stoke Newington can host up to 100 wedding guests. From my experience guests tend to hang out at the front and the beer garden where they can, it’s definitely a wedding venue that’s well suited for a summer wedding. I have photographed a winter wedding there before but the guest list was smaller, and I think this is a good idea so that everyone can comfortably fit inside the indoor space.
Where do you take group and couple photos at The Londesborough
The Londesborough is situated on a semi quiet residential street with some occasional traffic passing by. The odds are high that if you had a wedding ceremony elsewhere, you would take some of the bigger group photos at the ceremony venue. It is possible to go a big group photos of all the guests at The Londesborough, you have to take it outside the front with the guests spread across. For couple photos, the interior decor is super nice and quirky but I have always found it’s full of the guests. Therefore it isn’t easy to take photos inside the space. I’d recommend taking photos on the surrounding streets or at Clissold Park. Even the residential streets nearby have some patches of green, so you can take some pretty London photos.
Wedding speeches
The Londesborough is a brilliant venue for the wedding speeches as it has a slightly raised level which creates a natural platform. Your guests can gather in the main room and the speaker can stand on the steps.
The dancefloor and party at The Londesborough
Once the dinner is served, the staff of The Londesborough will clear the central room to create a dance floor. I recommend hiring a wedding photographer who can work well with flash. There is enough gorgeous natural light in there but to make it look different from the daytime lighting it’s a nice touch to add some off camera flash.
