First look at The Hoxton Hotel
This was officially my very last covid cancellation wedding if you can believe it! I first met this couple back in 2019, at the groom’s cousin’s wedding at Harrild and Sons. He loved my wedding party photos so much that he contacted me in 2020. Eventually things rolled over another four years! So I was very pleased and honoured that this couple came back to me over all that time, and we finally got to shoot this joyous fun London Hoxton Hotel wedding!
We started the day preparing at The Hoxton Hotel where the bride got into her Indie London modern lace gown. The groom wore his Black Tie suit. They had their first look on their gorgeous green glasshouse style top floor private space. You access this private hire area via a separate lift to the main hotel. Therefore, it’s not an exclusive hire wedding venue in London like with Eight Club, but it does feel just as private.

St Etheldreda’s Church wedding ceremony
St Etheldreda’s is definitely one of the most popular Catholic churches for a Central London wedding, on the East side. Farm Church in Chelsea is a stunning hidden gem for West London church weddings. It’s tucked down Ely Place a quiet cobbled street in Holborn. It is one of the oldest Catholic churches in London. It’s low light gives a lovely atmosphere and the priest is super friendly and relaxed. The choir you can choose to hire are incredible performers. You aren’t allowed confetti outside St Etheldreda’s church. However there is plenty of space for big group photos, family photos and beautiful architecture for couple shots immediately outside.

The Hoxton Hotel wedding reception
After their Catholic Church wedding ceremony, everyone got onto the vintage London bus hired from London Retro Bus Hire. It was a very beautiful bus, in elegant white and green, so a little bit different from the red London buses! They took us to the Hoxton Hotel in Southwark where we entered via the direct entrance to the private hire space on the top floor, which has stunning views of London. Just before we entered the hotel we walked across the road directly opposite The Hoxton for some couple photos.

Standing wedding reception with bowl food
If you want to plan a wedding reception with more of a relaxed party vibe, then I highly recommend having a standing reception with bowl food. I have recently photographed a winter wedding at Chelsea Town Hall where they did the same. This approach can also allow you to book London wedding venues with a higher capacity of people. If you plan a seated meal you would have to cut down your guest list or hire a bigger space. As well as the delicious food served by the Hoxton, they had a cake from Vida Bakery and incredibly presented real edible flower brownies from Blushing Cook. The venue was decorated with flowers from Halcyon Halcyon Ltd
