The Reid Rooms wedding photography

Why choose The Reid Rooms for your Essex wedding

The Reid Rooms is a fabulous Essex wedding venue that I am a local photographer for. It has options for both indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies. They have a gorgeous white wood panelled lined courtyard. They also have indoor space for drinks reception. You hold your dinner in a quirky room next to what resembles a vintage English living room. This means The Reid Rooms is the perfect wedding venue for those who are worried about a rainy wedding day. You have exclusive use of the venue and plenty of room options. They even also have a gorgeous Manor House where you can stay with your immediate family and wedding party, you get ready there in the morning. At the end of the wedding day you don’t have to worry about finding your way home! Another great reason to book The Reid Rooms Essex wedding venue is that they allow you to choose your external caterer. Their prices are also super reasonable, starting from as a low as £2400 for venue hire in off peak season up to £5300 for a peak Saturday.

Wedding prep at Marks Hall Farm House

On top of the venue hire fee you have the option to hire the on site Manor House, Marks Hall Farm House, for getting ready and overnight accommodation. This is for an additional fee and you can book out either individual rooms or the whole house. I started the day here for K + C with their family and bridesmaids getting ready. Both brides and all the bridesmaids had their hair done by Lola’s salon in South Woodford. Liv Rutland did the make up.

Essex outdoor wedding ceremony

Whilst we are still waiting for the change in UK laws that will allow couples to get married anywhere outdoors, if you’d like an outdoor wedding ceremony you still have to hold it under a licensed fixed structure. Reid Rooms caters for this beautifully, with a white wooden hut in a tree enclosed field. Guests sit on wooden pew benches. This registrar led ceremony for K and C was super sweet and emotional.

Reid Rooms courtyard

After your wedding ceremony Reid Rooms usually host the drinks reception in the courtyard, weather allowing. It’s a lovely space with a waterfall and plenty of seating. In terms of taking photos I usually find you need to do the group photos elsewhere, as the guests tend to fill this space. Luckily just around the corner there are plenty of little green alcoves and paths which are usable. I saved the floral decor and white wood panels for the couple photos. The courtyard space works perfectly with a live acoustic set, just like the one provided by the Matt Strafford Band, who play both across the day and provide a more upbeat set into the night. K and C are all about their friends and family, I loved photographing loads of candids of people simply enjoying themselves!

Where to take couple photos at Reid Rooms wedding venue

Reid Rooms is a lovely outdoor and manor home Essex wedding venue with plenty of options for couple photo spots. You can shoot inside and outside the Marks Hall Farm House. There’s a giant willow tree on the grounds and a lake off the front lawn. Whatever the time of day it’s possible to get gorgeous photos as there’s great natural green backdrops in all angles across Reid Rooms.

Wedding dinner at Reid Rooms

The wedding dinner takes place in a wood beam and white walled dining room. It has a small quiet rooms adjoining it with sofas and armchairs which is nice if any elderly guests or kids need a little space. K and C had a series of speeches from friends and family, and custom temporary tattoos as a fun conversation starter.

After the dinner the guests went back outside to the courtyard to enjoy some fresh air before the first dance! The dance floor at Reid Rooms has purple lighting and gorgeous twinkly fairy lights for your back drop.
